Board Response

Leadership Transition

The AGOTT Board would like to extend our appreciation to Chavisa Woods for the amazing work she has done formalizing AGOTT programs over the last four years. She connected AGOTT to strong coalitions like CoSA (Coalition of Small Arts) and Pen’s Literary Action Coalition, and solidified our relationship with dedicated new funders.

We are especially grateful for her leadership in spearheading AGOTT’s participation in the 2022 Whitney Biennial, which included co-designing an exhibit honoring AGOTT’s history, and founder Steve Cannon, as well as eight months of community engagement with in-person and virtual programming.

AGOTT was founded more than thirty years ago, in 1991, with the same foundational mission that informs our necessary work today. We look forward to supporting traditionally under-represented writers and artists, amplifying revolutionary voices for generations to come as well as honoring the legacy of Steve Cannon by expanding our programming and announcing new leadership very soon.
