Regie Cabico is a pioneer of spoken word having won the 1993 Nuyorican Poets Cafe Grand Slam, later taking 3 National Prizes in the poetry slams. His latest play, Coconut Smoothie, was developed at Washington Shakespeare Theater’s Playwriting Workshops and was shortlisted for The 2020 Breath Project Series, a virtual theater festival, in response to George Floyd’s death.
