About: The “Cosmos” T-shirt was designed by artist Itziar Barrio. featuring original poetry by Tribes’ late founder, poet, playwright, novelist, professor, and prolific mentor, Steve Cannon.

The text, which reads, “The cosmos in its infinite chaos, is bursting at the seams with love,” appears to move in flux with the cosmos, bleeding in and out of the stars, urging readers to stop a moment, focus, and ponder. its meaning.

This design is intended to be worn as an oversize, tunic-style T.

This shirt was produces jointly as a collaboration between Steve Cannon’s Estate and A Gathering of the Tribes.

Itziar Barrio is an NYC-based multi-media artist. Itziar Barrio is a NEW INC (New Museum’s incubator) member (2020-2021) and was a 2018-2019 recipient of the Spanish Academy in Rome Fellowship.

She has received awards including grants from the Brooklyn Arts Council, the Spanish Ministry of Culture, the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs, Foundation for Contemporary Arts, NYC, as well as the New York Foundation for the Art, BBVA Foundation and the First Prize Ertibil. She has participated in a number of residencies including the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, La Escuelita Nicaragua and The International Studio and Curatorial Program (ISCP). She has lectured at NYU, MICA, Hunter College, Montclair University and Parsons, The New School, among many others. She teaches at the School of Visual Arts in NYC.

She was featured in one solo, multiple group exhibitions, and served as a volunteer for multiple programs at Tribes Gallery from 2006 to 2010.
