TODAY IN 2 SHADES;1. Today I bought a mahogany coffee table from this guy on that corner (you know the one) bought a book of love poems and a complete collection of Gauguin paintings in a hardware, store in Little Italy Today I stripped myself of jacket and shoes broke into a sweat while dancing an African stick dance to conga and steel drums in Prospect Park Fell into a transcontinental/New York trance woke up and found myself in conversation with a man who obliged the same panhandler as me Walked a block out of my way before easing into parting words with him before he walked an extra block in my direction "...since it's nice out..." Today a deep breath, of simple pleasures hidden treasures blissful moments sweet possibilities

&nbsp ;2. Lavender oil in lamp ring bathes the air in this room where I sip iced coffee Sinking inside myself Phoebe Snow and Miles coax me into releasing three poems that needed to get out Perched on my fire escape just beyond the window-- cordless reach-- vulnerability and bosom words bridge my long distance call Til the sun sets somewhere west of Second Avenue... Leaving me lounging in its hues as this Good day slips into my memory.
