The Arts(Performing)@Tribes
A Gathering of the Tribes is pleased to announce that it is the Producer of a new cable show: The Arts(Performing)@Tribes. The focus will be on multi-media artists who are working in the visual arts, performance, theater, dance and film/video. George Spencer is the Director. Initially the shows will be on Vimeo and in the fall they will be seen on Manhattan Neighborhood Network.
The first show, a two part series, is about Sarah Kipp. It can be seen at http://vimeo.com/23025493. Sarah received her MFA from Queens College, City University of New York, and her BFA from Penn State University. She has had solo exhibitions at the Mooney Center Exhibit Hall (New Rochelle, NY); Paul Klapper Gallery, Queens College (Flushing); and The Patterson Gallery (University Park, PA). Her work has been included in group exhibitions and in performances at numerous venues including The Point of Contact Gallery (Syracuse, NY); Rockland Center for the Arts (West Nyack, NY); Artists Space, ABC No Rio, The Underscore and The Pussycat Lounge (New York, NY); and Meatspace Gallery and Flux Factory (Long Island City, NY). She was nominated for both the Joan Mitchell Grant and the Dedalus Foundation Fellowship.
Her work combines painting, drawing, video, photography, sound and live performance.
The video and sound for this two-part series was done by Katy Arrington, an intern from Parsons in New York City. In the future the video, sound and editing will be done by Susan Scutti.
We are presently working on 7 other shows that are in various stages of completion.
