Unveiling of sculpture works by
-LYNNE MAYOCOLE-BOB CLYATT-HEATHER WESTON-JOAN FINE-
The concept of the exhibition “Where Am I” was to simulate Steve Cannon’s experience with art, the experience of being one of what is sure to be very few, perhaps the only, blind gallery owner. At the opening of the exhibition the sculptures were not seen, but experienced tactilely in a smoke-filled, dimly lit room. On December 9th the sculptures will be unveiled. Attendees will see the works for the first time.
In line with the concept of “Where Am I?”, the burlesque show will mimic the sensation of blindness and unveiling. Steve Cannon will narrate the performances, ordering performers to “take off the goddamn shirt already”.
This is the Blood Ballet Cabaret's first show as a troop in the U.S. Featuring the crème de la crème of Montreal's burlesque and circus scene. With acts ranging from aerial contortion to fire hooping, the BBC feeds those who are craving some extra spice in their nocturnal ventures. The show boasts a bevy of creative women who exude sensuality through burlesque performance, connecting with the crowd on a level that exceeds visual allure.
The exhibition will run through January 5th, 2012, when the pieces will be auctioned off at the closing event.
