The year is 2012 and it is time for humanity to see itself clearly. Come celebrate the New Year and Erin Carmody’s first one-woman show in Manhattan! Erin is a set theorist studying the infinite cardinals at the CUNY Graduate Center. Her vibrant and geometric paintings express the intricacies of her mathematical cerebrum. Eight figures of archetypes- including a portrait of the artist- embody the human form in a deistic fashion; all while representing the phases of the moon. Another set of work uses solely primary colors and geometry to accurately portray the notions of infinities and nothingness. An internal, universal voice is expressed, and shares with viewers the paradox of truth. Oil paint stretches across the canvas as the artist’s mastery of numbers is equated with her mastery of the brush.
